AMATEUR ATHLETICS
In spite of the difficult times, the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club had experienced quite a good season and was hopeful of carrying on successfully in the coming season, said the president (Mr. H. J. Pollock) at the annual meeting. The club won the McVilly and Dewar Shields and the Heenan Boomerang. The finances of the club'were sound.
The election of officers resulted:— Patron, the Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall; president, Mr. H. J. Pollock; vice-presidents, all re-electdd; committee, Messrs. K. Guy, A. C. Kitto, A. L. Tressider, W. J. Vernon, R. Spence, C. Dickie, and A. J. Mackay, and Miss D. Hurley; club captain, Mr. R. Kidd; ladies' club, captain, Mrs. E. Kidd; hon. treasurer, Mr. R. J. Ford; hon. secretary, Mr. G. B. Appleby; delegate to Wellington Centre, Mr. C. Smythe; hon. auditor, Mr. H. Fisher; starter, Mr. T. W. Leslie; deputy starter, Mr. C. Smythe.
