FIRE IN BLENHEIM
(P.A.) BLENHEIM, This Day. Three small shops in Market Street South were involved in an outbreak of fire last night. Major damage was suffered by the premises of Mr. W., G. Burton, fruiterer and confectioner, the rear of the shop being gutted and the entire stock ruined by smoke and water. The adjoining *shops on either side, occupied by Messrs. C. H. James, draper, and G. *Bartlett, hairdresser, were affected to a;. minor extent, the principal damage being to Mr. James's stock, which was badly smoked. Mr. Bartlett's premises escaped, with slight damage to the storeroom, where a quantity of matches were ignited by the heat. The shops, which are included in a block of four owned by Mr. Sidney Adams, were insured for £ 1300. Mr. Burton's stock was insured for £,300 and Mr. James's for £250.
