HOUSEHOLDER IN HOSPITAL

(P.A.). CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 26. At grips with a marauder .whom he discovered in his house last. evening, Mr. Thomas Walter Robert Hitt, of 45 Hagley Street, Riccarton, put up a good fight till -a weapon crashed .down on his skull. Mr. Hitt was taken to the Christchurch Hospital, where he is still iri bed, though his injuries'are not considered serious.

The. assailant, who is believed to be responsible for burgling a number of suburban houses recently during the absence of the occupants, got away.
