DICKENS EVENING

Dickens lovers were given a treat recently when Mrs. Cruttenden, assisted by Miss McKenzie and members of the Dickens Fellowship, presented a Dickens programme at the Kent Terrace Presbyterian Church. Items were given by Mrs. Smythe, Mr. Val Jones, Miss R. Page, Miss Kathleen Bond, and Mr. Isitt. During -the evening sketches from "Martin Chuzzzlewit" and "Nicholas Nickleby" were given, those taking part being Mrs. Shakes, Mrs. Farrant, Mrs. Jesson, Miss> Ryan, Mr. Page, Mr. Phillips, and Mr. Shakes. A pleasant evening was brought to a conclusion by the presentation of' a pageant of well-known Dickens characters. Miss Grant's singing of two verses of the Fellowship • Song was much appreciated. The accompanists for the evening were Mrs. Violet Wakelin and Mrs. McKenzie.
