(P.A.) INVERCARGILL, This Day,

Portion of the New Zealand ■ Express Company's two-storey .brick building recently taken -over by H. • and H. Motors was gutted by. fire, this morning. Furniture stored -on • behalf of clients was destroyed* also food products,, disinfectants, tyres, and plywood held on consignment, the damage to such being estimated at £3000. Insurance on the building is in the Royal Insurance Company, but the amount is not available.

Good work by the brigade prevented the flames spreading through the whole building, which has a frontage of half a block. Seven trucks and two cars in the garage on the bottom floor were saved before the roof caved in.
