His Excellency the GovernorGeneral, attended by Captain C. J. Holland-Martin, visited a factory engaged in the manufacture of clothing for the Armed Forces this morning.
The Rev. L. Farquhar-Gunn, of St. Ninian's Presbyterian Church, Riccarton, has received a call from St. Andrew's Church, Te Awamutu. Constable C. J. Dwyer, for the past 12 years a member of the Lower Hutt Police Force, has been promoted to the rank of sergeant and will leave for his new station in Christchurch
next week,
Sir James Elliott has returned to Wellington from Auckland. Dr. W. Arundel Orchard, examiner for Trinity College of Music, London, who has been* ill for. the past few weeks,- has resumed work, and will continue examining until he leaves next month for Australia. Mr. Andersen Tyrer will shortly arrive in New Zealand, and, with Dr. Lyon, will complete the examinations in the North Island. .
Messrs. J. A. C. Allum, president, W. E Anderson, secretary, A. Whyte and J. Lowe; members of the executive of the Auckland Provincial Employers' Association, were appointed at the annual meeting of the association yesterday to represent it at the annual meeting \of the New Zealand Employers' Federation in Wellington on October 15.
Mr. W. J. Gardner, who has been managing secretary of the Wahganui Harbour Board for the past, 15 years, has arrived in Wellington to take up the position" of secretary to the NewZealand. Harbour Boards Association, and secretary to the New - Zealand Harbour Boards 'Employers' Union.
