D.F.C. FOR NEW ZEALANDER

(Rsc. 10 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 25. Acting Flight Lieutenant Thomas Patrick Gibson has been awarded the D.F.C. He was born in Christchurch in 1913, and his father lives in Inver^ cargill.

The citation says that Acting Flight Lieutenant Gibson has completed 1000 hours of operational flying as the pilot of a Sunderland. He is a wholly reliable pilot, whose steadiness and ability have inspired confidence in his crew. He has always shown great eagerness to undertake an\y operational task allotted to him. In the North Atlantic and elsewhere he has frequently carried but patrols in weather conditions which would have deterred many.

Since August, 1940, Acting Flight Lieutenant Gibson has acted as captain of aircraft, and several times as flight commander. He has always set a splendid example.
