CHILD FALLS 100 FEET

(0.C.) OTAKI, This Day. j A narrow escape from death was experienced by a child of five recently at Otaki. While he was playing near a high bank overlooking the Otaki River the edge of the bank gave way and he fell nearly 100 feet on to a ledge beside a deep pool. His companion gc*ve the alarm but it took over j three hours with the use of long ropes to get the child up. With the exception of a slight cut on the head, a few bruises, and shock, the child appeared little the worse for his experience and after a day's test and sleep was about as usual.
