FOXTON RACES

TO BE STAGED AT LEVIN

For the second occasion since its property was taken over by the military authorities, the Foxton Racing Club will stage a fixture on the Levin course, the club's Spring Meeting being set down at that venue tomorrow, A wonderfui winter track, the Levin course usually offers the best of racing conditions, but it was the fate of the club temporarily in occupation to experience particularly heavy conditions at its winter fixture in May. The outlook, unfortunately, is not over bright for tomorrow.

Despite the fact that defections were fairly numerous on acceptance night, the fields for tomorrow are quite good, and highly interesting racing should result. The principal event, the Carnarvon Handicap, has attracted a field of eight runners only, but it might well be productive of a surprise. Peculiarly enough, the only member of last year's field is Aurora's Star, but whereas she ranked 12-12 in the order on that earlier occasion she might well be the favourite tomorrow. Of those who contested the Robinson Handicap, the open sprint, last September, Screen Star, who was runner-up to Night Eruption and who got on the winning list at Marton last Saturday, together with Taurangi and The Buzzer are again engaged.

Betting will be conducted on the winsystem, and the following horses are likely to be fancied:—
