CHILDREN RAISE £25

PARCELS FOR RELATIVES

OVERSEAS

Two afternoon concerts were held at the assembly room in the Te Aro Infant School on The Terrace, recently, to raise funds to buy Christmas parcels for those fathers, brothers, and sisters of the pupils of the Te Aro and Mitchelltown schools who are serving overseas.

As a result the splendid sum of £25 was raised, enabling over 50 parcels to be packed and sent away. This will be done by members of the women's auxiliary, who assisted the children's effort by holding stalls of produce and cakes and by serving afternoon tea to the large attendances of the mothers and friends of the. pupils.

All the items were given by the children themselves. The programme included action choruses by the primers and Mitchelltown children, verse-speaking by senior and junior pupils, folk dancing by senior girls, and songs by the senior choir. A similar effort was. made last year, and as a result 45 parcels were sent overseas.
