VOTE AT CANBERRA

GOVERNMENT SAVED

(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.)

(Rec. 12.30 p.m.) CANBERRA, This Day. The Labour Party's censure motion against the Government for the alleged manner in which it used a secret fund to combat subversive activities wai defeated in the House at 3.1 a a.m. today by 32 votes to 31. Both of the Independent members, Mr. Coles and Mr. Wilson, voted with the Government. After Parliament had adjourned the Prime Minister, Mr. A. W. Fadden, said he would not appoint a Royal Commission to inquire into payments from the fund. "I emphatically repudiate the secret fund allegations in their entirety," he said.
