South .'foland packers- are experiencing, great difficulty in obtaining supplies of /bottles from the Auckland glass wcnrJcs, according to Mr, D. C Kidd CNfational, Waitaki), who gave notice in the House of Representatives ye.<iiterday to ask the Minister of Industrie^ and Commerce whether he would take steps to assist the packers in this connection.
Mr. KSidd said that it had been reported liJiat the Auckland works were engagef 3/, largely in making beer bottles for export, and therefore could not promise delivery of other bottles until February or March. It had also been suggested that, if necessary, consideration; should be given to the possibility *c>f i-ecommissioniHg the glass factory at Ashburton.
A iFjfelford (England) man has taken a detjelict cottage and made good use of it by spreading soil over the floor to a <depth of 18 inches and planting vege'1 tables.
