ST. JAMES THEATRE.
♦ "Caught in the Draft." Following record-breaking seasons overseas, Paramount's hilarious army comedy, "Caught in the Draft," opens at the St. James Theatre tomorrow. Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour, who were seen recently in "Road to Zanzibar," head the cast. Bob Hope is seen as a film star, allergic to gunfire. When he looks likely to be caught in the draft, or ballot, he decides to marry, and chooses Dorothy Lamour, a colonel's daughter, as his prospective wife. With the aid of Lynne Overman and Eddie Bracken, Bob concocts an, idea by which he will be rejected by! the recruiting sergeant. But the idea j fails, and the trio find themselves in a training camp. Together they go through a series of adventures, including tank-driving, parachute jumps, and potato peeling. Finally Bob Hope ends up a hero —thereby winning the approval of the colonel and his' daughter. "Caught in the Draft" is packed with laughter. David Butler's direction is excellent and he makes the very | most of the laugh situations.
