News has been received of the birth of a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. George Bliss Lane. Mr. Lane was formerly J United States Consul in New Zealand | and resided in Wellington. He and his wifp are now living in New York. Mrs. Charles White, Wellington, has i been staying at the Masonic Hotel, Napier. Miss Agatha Bunny, Lower Hutt, is h visitor to Wanganui. Miss Alys Nathan, Grant Road, who has been visiting Auckland, returned to Wollington yesterday. Miss M. Watson. New Plymouth, has arrived at. Wellington to report for duty with the WA.A.F. Mrs. J. Redwood, Lower Hutt, is visiting Wanganui, Mrs. G. W. Knight has returned to Wellington" after spending some time in Wanganui. { Mrs. F. M. Winston and Miss Dorothy Winston, Epsom, have returned to Auckland from a visit to Wellington.
Mr. Johannes Andersen was the speaker at a recent meeting of the Women's Study Circle, His subject was the Maori people. He gave interesting and little-known facts about their history and told many humorous stories.
