FINANCES OF QUEENSLAND

In a letter read in Parliament, it is alleged that the Queensland Treasurer's statements for the nine years before June 30, 1940, were incorrect by £508,767.

The letter also alleged that the Consolidated Revenue Account for 1939-40 was incorrect by £45,313. The letter bore the signature of-a former senior inspector of accounts in the State Audit Department. ""-He alleged that after he disclosed serious irregularities in the railways finance in 1940 he received notice from the Premier (Mr. William Forgan Smith) dismissing him from the Public Service.

The letter vas read to the Legislative Assembly by Mr. T. A. Nimmo, an Oppositiop^member, during the Budget debate.

' On the motion of the Treasurer (Mr, F. A. Cooper), the letter was tabled.
