Coleman (Government, Gisborne) in a notice of question in the House of Representatives yesterday. Mr. Coleman also asked whether, if it were found that the premiums charged were too high, the Prime Minister would take steps to have relief given to policy holders. Mr. Coleman said that, according to the report to Parliament of the Inspector of Fire Brigades, the premiums collected by fire insurance companies u> New Zealand last year amounted to £948,176 and losses paid by the companies totalled £228,929.
