PIG-EXPORT PROSPECTS BRIGHT.

Referring to increased exports of bacon, Mr. W. A. Phillips, chairman of New Zealand Co-operative. Pig Marketing Association, Ltd., stated that this was a most welcome development. In terms of average weight of baconers produced when converted into Wiltshire sides, together with baconers required for local consumption, this would provide producers with an assured market for some 400,000 baconer pigs of an average weight of 121 to 150 pounds carcass weight, and suffice to cater for this season's probable production, ensuring a stable market to producers at all slaughtering points throughout New Zealand for this particular class of pig. "With a continued normal export market for porker pigs which was also confidently anticipated for the current season, the industry would be placed in a very satisfactory position," said Mr. Phillips.
