DAY IN PARLIAMENT
. MAIN ESTIMATES PASSED
Parliament had a fairly quiet day yesterday, the only business being the voting of the remaining five classes of the main Estimates., These went through so well that members were able to disperse for .the weekend an hour earlier than the usual time for adjournment. Traffic control and road | accidents came under discussion when the Vote for the Transport Departt ment was taken, and members became quite humorous about crayfish, oysters, and other marine products while voting funds for the Marine Department. The Working Railways Account also provoked some discussion, but the National Service Department and National Provident Fund were provided for with scarcely any discussion. The total voted during the day was £10,291,571, the majority of this being voted for railways. Before the House adjourned for the weekend an outline of business yet to come, given by the Minister of Finance (Mr. Nash), indicated that the House has at least another two weeks' work ahead. .... ■■"'',
