♦ — HUTT VALLEY INCREASES • i During the five months ended August 31 the sales of current by the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board increased over'the corresponding period m 1940 by ,£4446 4s lid, the figures being; 1940, £65,150 ISs 8d; 1941, £69,597 3s 7d. The only item slewing a decrease was that for commercial heating and cooking, which declined by £910 15s id. The board now has 16,797 installations, 5051 connected rariges, 5622 water heaters, and a connected load of 94,927 kw. The combined peak registered during August was 14,352 k.v.a., and the units purchased 5,910,900, an increase of 594,700 units over the'l94o figures. In a discussion /on the question of the need to economise in the use of electricity, Mr. E. F. Hollands, secretarygeneral manager, said that even after the need for economy was passed the board would have to consider prohibiting the use of current for waterheating purposes under prevailing conditions. The present conditions were uneconomic.
