NEW TANK BRIGADE
INSTRUCTORS ARRIVE
. A number of officers and men have arrived from the Middle East to act as instructors at the army tank school. They are all experienced officers and non-commissioned officers from the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, and they have all served in tank brigades in action in the Western Desert and Greece.v it was announced the other day that Lieutenant-Colonel H; B M Groves, M.C. and. bar, of the Royal Armoured. Corps, who arrived at Auckland recently, .would command the new Armoured Fighting Vehicle School at Waiouru. Lieutenant-Colonel Groves has spent the past four years in the Middle East, and fought in the Libyan campaign.
The Minister of Defence (Mr. Jones), in a recent statement, announced that the new school is a corollary to the formation of an army tank brigade which is to be raised and trained in the Dominion. The first function of the school will be to train officers and non-commissioned officers for the brigade. It will then train others for certain: Territorial Force units which are to.be reorganised into light armoured fighting vehicle regiments,
