SEVERE CASUALTIES

Official opinion in London on the results of the Russian campaign during the week' ended September 5 is that as the result of heavy fighting, particularly 'in the direction of Leningrad- and the -Ukraine, the ■• Germans have made some further progress in several sectors, but that there are signs that the campaign is imposing an increasing strain on the Germans. . The German casualties: have been, severe and on parts of the front their operations have been handicapped by adverse weather.—B.O.W.
