TRAIN DERAILMENT
TRAVELLING INTERRUPTED
j (PJV..) TIMARU, September 7. Fourteen wagons were involved sin a derailment at the Seadown station, seven miles from Timaru, on Satur-^ day morning, resulting in a blockage of the main line, delaying traffic for many hours.
i A goods train was approaching Seadown when a truck left the line .and was dragged three-quarters of a mile before it left the track completely, dragging the following thirteen wagons with it. The main blockage was caused by seven coal-laden trucks which telescoped' and piled up in a heap of twisted iron and splintered wood. The blockage covered about; yards, and though, a bulldozer and' a big breakdown crane'were; used, the line was not cleared till late, in the aftetnoon. As a result of the hold-up, the train from Dunedin arrived at Christchurch at 8.5 p.m. on Saturday and the train. from Invercargill, due at 6.35 P-m. ,> arrived at 8.15 p^m. The Rangatira' sailed from Lyttelton at 9.25 p.m. ,
