WOMEN'S MATCH
In a representative women's hockey match played at Newtown Park on Saturday afternoon Wellington defeated Wanganui by 3 goals to 1. Wanganui fielded a fast forward line, but were handicapped by the fact that their footwear was not suited to the muddy conditions. Wellington's first goal was scored by Miss Ddrwell from _ a scramble in front of the goal and towards the end of the first spell Wellington scored again through a solo run by Miss J. Riley. The third goal came from another solo effort, this time on the part of Miss Carson, who dribbled the ball from the half-way line, making a fine run to score. Wanganul's goal was netted by Miss E. Coneybeer, who, supported by the forwards, forced the ball through mud and water to draw the Wellington goalie and net brilliantly. This match terminated the 1941 season.
