MR, HAROLD A. ELLIOT
The death occurred in Wellington on Sunday of Mr. Harold Archibald Elliot, well known for the prominent part he played in the Rugby game. A fine stamp of player in his day, Mr. Elliot built up a fine playing record as a forward and became popularly known as "Mother," a title originally conferred upon W. Elliott, of the 1888----89 New Zealand Native team. In addition to representing Wellington many times, H. A. Elliot was a North Island representative on three occasions, but he was unfortunate in not gaining New Zealand honours. For a time he was in Auckland, and was a member of a club team which went from there on a visit to Australia. He was best known in Wellington as one of the Poneke stalwarts, though he also was associated with the Athletic Football Club. The late Mr. Elliot is survived -by his wife. There is also one daughter, Dorothy, and a son, Jack, who is amongst those reported missing on service overseas.
