HOME GUARD PARADE"

The observance of next Sunday, by the King's wish, as a national day of prayer will include the holding of special services in. Wellington. A church parade of the Makara Battalion of the Home Guard, comprising Northland, Kelburn, Karori, Ohariu Valley, and Makara units, will be held in the Marsden School grounds, Karori, commencing at 10 a.m.

The band of the First Battalion, Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington's Own) will parade with the Makara Battalion, and at the service the Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop) will give an address, with the Revs. Kempthorne, Salmond, and Bateup also officiating. Units of the battalion are to assemble at the Karorj School and proceed to Marsden School. This will be the first full parade of the battalion under the reorganisation scheme, and after the service the battalion, with Lieutenant D. G. Ball in command, will proceed from • the grounds to the Main Road, Karori. for a march past, the Mayor taking the salute at the corner of Homewood Avenue. The service is to be undenominational, and it is expected that there will be a large attendance of residents of the districts represented in the battalion.
