Karori League of Mothers.

Red Cross work was the subject of an address given by Sister Whitelaw at a meeting of the Karori branch of the League of Mothers Mrs. Urquhart presided, and an amusing play was read by the playreaders, members of the Kelburn branch. Items were given by 'the Karori league choir. Lyceum Club Officers. The Lyceum Club at its annual meeting recently elected the following officers:—Warden, her Excellency Lady Newall; president, Mrs. David Herbert; vice-presidents, Mesdaines J. H. Thompson, S. Liverton, and M. M. Billman; executive, Mesdames J. Bagnall, Louden, Duff, Misses C. A. Old, Keasberry, and H. Hiscock; hon. treasurer, Miss A. Howarth; and secretary, :Mrs. A. Mac Donald. President Entertains Committee. . Mrs.■■• E. J. Moore, J.P., president of the Wellington After-Care Association, gave an afternoon tea party recently for her committee at the Pioneer Club. Lovely .flowers arranged about the club made an attractive setting.

Catholic Girls Entertain Soldiers

Hot lunches and teas, and homemade afternoon teas and suppers, were dispensed by girls of the Wellington Catholic Lawn Tennis Association, the hostesses last weekend to the many servicemen who visited the Catholic Services Club rooms, 126 Cuba Street, Music, games, and dancing were enjoyed, and the reading and writing room was in constant use. The hostesses were very grateful for donations of provisions for the weekend. Among those on duty were Misses P. McDermott, W. McNeill, N. Alexander, J. Grega/i, J. Gallagher, H. Oliver, H. ColuEhb. K. Weybume. B. Mulcahy, M. Sullivan, E. Fortune, H. Hartung, P. Howard, G. Barnao. M, O'Flaherty, and E. Mansfield.
