FRESH CONVERSATIONS
RUGBY, August 26; The following communique was issued yesterday in Ceylon:—"At the request of the Government of Ceylon, the Government of India has agreed to the resumption of the informal conversations which came to a close in November, 1940, and a meeting will" take place in Ceylon early in September. "It is hoped that as a result of these exploratory discussions a resolution of the various outstanding problems may be found which will help to re-estab-lish on a firm basis of understanding and co-operation the traditional friendship between the two countries. "The Government of India is not yet ready for trade negotiations, which are to.be. taken up at a later date."— I&Q.W. "
