AUSTRALIAN WOMEN'S ARMY

CANBERRA, August 25. Women enrolled in the newly-formed Australian Women's Army will receive a uniform allowance of £20 and their rates of pay will be: Controller £1, assistant controller 17s 6d, commandant 15s, assistant commandant 10s, group leader 7s 6d, section leader 6s 6d, worker 4s. In addition, the women will be given subsistence and quarters, or the amount instead. The women's duties will include the work of cooks, clerks, orderlies, telephonists, canteen attendants, drivermechanics, wireless operators, dispatch riders, tailoresses, , kitchen duties, cipher duties, and waitresses.
