GOVERNMENT'S INTENTION

"Steps will be taken in the near future to make the best possible use of the services of medical practitioners, both for persons attending hospitals, whether as in-patients or out-patients, and for the general public." This statement was made in the House of Representatives yesterday by the Minister of Health (Mr. Nordmeyer) in the course of a reply to an urgent question asked by Mr. J. Thorn (Government, Thames).

Mr. Thorn's question related to a report of a complaint of the refusal of out-patient treatment at the Thames Hospital, and asked if the Minister could inform the House whether steps were being taken or were in contemplation to ensure that this service under the Social Security Act would be provided for those who required it.
