SPRING ONIONS
Any variety of onion seed w:ll produce spring onions and seed may be sown now either in rows or broadcast. As they are to be used while quite' small the seed should be sown fairly
;%hick. Alairly^ rich "soil fe desirable >gmd the beds should be made firm and tjie surface loosened with the rake. Don't tramp "the soil while it is wet or ah iinpervio'us -"Crust -will form through, whicn the young seedlings cannot push. No thinning is necessary; they may be pulled out as they are required for use so as to thin the plants. A small quantity of seed will supply all the spring onions required for an average family.
