BRITISH LOSS OF PLANES
INNOVATION OF ANNOUNCING
NUMBER OF RAIDERS
i , LONDON, August 15. The R.A.F. losses during last night's! raids were 12 bombers over Germany j and one missing on operations against German shipping off the coast of Friesland. The disclosure by the Air Ministry of the number of machines engaged is an innovation which puts the British losses in proper perspective. Actually, in relation to the size of the invading force, the number of machines lost, only 4 per cent, of the total, is remarkably small. The innovation serves the double purpose _of refuting the attempts of the Germans to minimise the raids by repeated assertions that they are on a small scale, and of giving the British public an idea of the increasing strength with which the R.A.F. is smashing Germany.
