GOVERNMENT LOANS

ONE REPAID TODAY

A general purposes Government loan for £3,000,000, issued at par and bearing interest at 3| per cent., repayable November 15, 1941, is being repaid today. The amount so repaid will be relatively small, however, as the loan has been almost entirely converted in terms of the prospectus of May 15.

Incidentally, it is understood that subscriptions to the new £10.000,000 War Loan—2l per cent, long term and 3 per cent, short term—issued at par. are rapidly corning to hand. The Minister of Finance recently announced that £2,340,000 had already been subscribed, but as the closing date, September 1, draws near the pace of subscription is accelerated.
