ARO STREET AREA
A meeting was held on .Wednesday evening to organise and prepare a nursing and first aid dressing station in the Aro Street Methodist Church under the direction of Mrs. McCabe. Mr. E. Scon-Brown was in - the chair.
. .Mi*. Vivian, preacher for the Aro Street Metlr odist Church, spoke of the spiritual side of the work and Mr. Scon-Brown gave a talk, stressing the great need of a nursing and first aid station and asking people to help those
who are giving their time and knowledge in a voluntary capacity. Mr. Scon-Brown has donated a complete list of the medical requisites required for a nursing station of this kind. Star Stores and Isaac and Sons, of Aro Street, have donated a generous supply of the necessary groceries, and Mr. and Mrs. F>eter Carswell donated half a dozen cups and saucers. Mr. Dighton, secretary of the Royal Life-sav-inj Society, gave a talk on the Schafer Method of Artificial Respiration, and presented to the following members of Mrs. McCabe's class eight bronze medallions and one silver medallion: — Miss Flo Sadler (bronze medallion and silver medallion—Award of Merit), Misses Dulcie Millar, Jean Millar, Dorothy Hamilton, Elsa Shaw. Ella Babbage, Daphne Stewart, and Katherine Jamieson (bronze medallions). Mr. Dighton spoke of the work Mrs. McCabe was doing for the Royal Lifesaving Society and mentioned that she had the highest award of the society. Mrs. McCabe replied.
Songs and elocutionary numbers were given by Mrs. Jim Tulloch and Miss Valeric Baine.
