MR. FRASER

RETURN TO DOMINION

END OF MONTH OR EARLY IN

SEPTEMBER

MESSAGE TO MR. NASH

The Acting Prime Minister (Mr. Nash) expects the Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) to be back in New Zealand by the end of thh month or at the latest in the first week of September. Business now on the Order Paper, with more to come, makes it appear likely that. the House of Representatives will still be in session when Mr. Fraser returns. Mr. Nash has already stated that the question of holding a General Election this year could not be decided until Mr. Fraser is back in the Dominion. In a message to Mr. Nash, Mr. Fraser referred particularly to the very favourable response by the people of Great Britain to descriptions of New Zealand's war effort and the part played by the Dominion's troops in Greece and Crete. Mr. Fraser had been asked by the Ministry of Information to make a trip through some of the devastated areas of England and also parts of Scotland. j
