ODESSA ISOLATED
CLAIM BY GERMANY
NOT ADMITTED BY SOVIET
LONDON, August 12. The Germans claim to have reached the Black Sea coast and to have isolated the port of Odessa, but this is not confirmed by the Russians. A British United Press correspondent reports tonight that officials in Berlin say that German forces have now reached the Black Sea coast on the east and west of Odessa. Hungarian military circles declare that the war in the Ukraine is entering a new phase. The latest Russian communique says nothing to -support the claims that Nazi forces are in Odessa, and. moreover, does not hint at any important German advance in any other sector of the front. The Russians report fighting 18 miles north-west of Kiev. The Moscow communique says that 41 German planes were destroyed on August 11, with the loss of 3'4 Russian planes.
