REVOLT IN BALKANS

GROWING MOVEMENT

NAZIS SERIOUSLY PERTURBED >

GENL. LIST'S VISIT

(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) LONDON, August 10. The invaders of the Balkans have become seriously perturbed at the movement of revolt, which is gaining impetus every day, especially in Yugoslavia, says the Istanbul correspondent of "The Times." The correspondent says that since the German attack on Russia the Gerjmans and their satellites have been calling any Balkan people who fight for their freedom "Communists." More than 800 Yugoslavs have-been imprisoned in Bratislava in the last four weeks on the ground that they were Communists. The Governments of Croatia and Hungary have been compelled to send j forces against the tchetchniks, who are mountain guerrilla bands in Montenegro. These bands are carrying out raids against isolated outposts, destroying crops and sabotaging railways and telegraphs. Their elusiveness is making repression difficult. Increasing numbers, including for- j mer officers of the Yugoslav army, are j escaping to the mountains and joining the tchetchniks. ' The greater part of the harvest in Grecian Thrace has been destroyed by fire. Dalmatian patriots refuse to recognise the Italian occupation of Croatia. The Balkan ferment accounts for the j visit of General List, reported on i August 1. It is now also reported that j the Germans have lost faith in the ! ability of the Italians to hold down the Balkans, and are considering the employment of Bulgarians. It is reported in.London' that everincreasing food difficulties are occurring in Czecho-Slovakia. Even the regular rations are frequently unprocurable, and every day housewives are causing violent scenes in front of their supply office.
