Mr. James Martin was elected to the Borough Council with a majority of 137 votes over Mr. W, H. Edwards. The figures were:—J. C Martin (Citizens), 799; W. H. Edwards (Labour), 662.
The electoral roll/ contains 6423 names, and' 1461 votes were recorded. Mr. Martin is a newcomer 'to the council. At the May elections he was first on the list of unsuccessful candidates with 1103 votes, and Mr. Edwards was next with 1048.
