The American airwoman Jacqueline Cochran is at present in London after flying a Lockheed Hudson bomber from North America. She was the flrst woman to do so.
She said the.trip was without incident. Her only companion was' Captain Grafe-Carlisle, who was in charge of the aircraft. He did the navigating. She was the first officer, and was at the controls the whole way.—U.P.A. .
FERRY PILOTS WANTED
(Rec.9.45 a.m.) NEW YORK, June'2o.
On the bulletin boards at La Guardia Airport, applications were invited today from American pilots and navigators to fly military planes to Britain.
The pilots' salary is 1500 dollars monthly, plus a 2500 dollars bonus for each series of ten round trips, plus an extra 5000 dollars at the .end of 25 round trips.—U.P.A.
