It. tis reported from Washington that President Roosevelt has subjected United States petroleum production to export control. Petroleum'exports from the eastern seabcfard of the United States may be made'only to the British Empire, Egypt, and tlie Western. Hemisphere. In Washington it is pointed out that though furthfer restrictions on oil products are Hot contemplated, the machinery for rsueh restrictions may be considered desirable.
One'theory is that there is a certain shor.td&e of oil on 'the eastern seaboardl, through lack of transportation resulting from the transfer Of tankers to Br plain. '
