PLAZA THEATRE.
"The Tree of Liberty."
There was a time when the merits of a motion picture were judged entirely, or almost so, on the merits of the actors appearing in the particular production. Then the public began to take an interest in the "staff," whose efforts they realised must have played an important part in the final success or otherwise of the picture. The "staff" they found included such people as the photographers, the writers, the art directors, the music, and score writers, and so on until they came to the most important people of all. the producers and directors. And after a certain name had been quoted as an academy award winner they began to realise that an outstanding picture must have something more than an outstanding cast; it must have outstanding photography, outstanding music perhaps and outstanding story, but most important of all it must have outstanding direction, and production. Three-time academy award winner, Frank Lloyd, producer and director, has crowned all his previous achievements with a most memorable production, Columbia's "The Tree of Liberty." Commencing at the Plaza Theatre at 11 o'clock tomorrow morning "The Tree of Liberty" will prpve more than usually good entertainment. In association with this great'picture will be shown the first of a series "International Forum," in which picturegoers will have the opportunity of seeing and hearing some of America's personalities—Dorothy 'Thompson, famous columnist, Wythe Williams, radio commentator famous for His forecasts, William L. Shirer,.Berlin correspondent for the C.8.5., and Linton Wells, author and United Press correspondent in the Far East. These authorities discuss the war situation as they see it. '
