FEDERATION OF JUSTICES

The annual conference of the Federation of New Zealand Justices' Associations was opened in Wellington today by the Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop), who welcomed the delegates. An address was given by the retiring president, Mr. J. M. Jenkins (Timaru). Mr. H: W. Shortt, of Wellington, is the new president. The election of officers resulted: —

President, Mr. H. W. Shortt ("Wellington); vice-president, Mr. W. A. Ott (Invercargill); registrar and treasurer, Mr. A. J. Stratford (Auckland); honorary solicitor, Major L. P. Leary (Auckland); Wellington reference officer. Mr. A. Longmore; auditor, Mr. E. C. Phillips (Auckland).
