Drastic steps to strengthen Empire dollar exchange pool taken by the Commonwealth Government today. All persons resident in Australia who own United States dollar funds or currency in any form, either in Australia or overseas, must sell them to the Commonwealth Government.

The Federal Treasurer, Mr. A. W. Fadden, estimates that the funds thus being taken over represent about 1,500,000 dollars, and mainly comprise bank balances held by Australians in the United States.
