COLD TEMPERATURES

Special forecast for Wellington:—

Moderate southerly winds. Weather fair to fine, although cold. The further outlook is for settled weather, with temperatures rising- slowly during the weekend. The general forecast for ihe Dominion as a whole is for south-west-erly winds. In sheltered areas these will be moderate, but ill exposed places they will be strong and squally, more especially on the Otago and Southland coasts and at times about Taranaki. There will be further passing showers on the Southland coast, and elsewhere the weather will still be rather changeable, with a few isolated showers confined chiefly to the Auckland Peninsula and the high country of the North Island. Conditions in most places., however, will become fair to fine. Temperatures will be cold, with sharp frosts. A change to south-westerly winds, which have reached gale force in places, has covered most of the country. The weather has been changeable and showery and has become j colder, some snow falling in the \ south. This morning, however, it | had become fair to fine again in | eastern districts from Dunedin north- j ward. Wellington had fair to fine weather yesterday, with a strong and I squally north-westerly wind. There were 6.1 hours of bright sunshine and temperatures ranged between 59.3 and 40.9 degrees.
