News has been received of the death in Crete of Major John Plimraer, F.R.C.S., of 192 Willis
Street, Wellington. Major Plimmer
was operating on wounded New Zealanders in a Crete hospital when a high-explosive bomb struck
the building: and blew it up,
Major Plimmer was the eldest son of Mrs. W, R. Plimmer, of Khandallah, and a grandson of the late Mr. John A Plimmer, also of Khandallah. He

was educated at the Waitaki Boys' High School, and studied medicine and surgery at Dunedin, Edinburgh, and London. On his return to New Zealartd he started practice in Wellington, and had resided here ever since. He was one of the first to volunteer for service when war was declared, and was in camp in Canterbury until he sailed. Major Plimmer leaves a widow (formerly Miss Leah Burt. of Dunedin) and three children.
