PERSONAL MOTES

The Minister of Health (Mr. Nordmeyer) is to return to Wellington tomorrow from Auckland.

Mr. J. Elliott, a member of the Railway Appeal Board, arrived from Auckland today to attend the sittings of the board in the South Island.

Sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. E. T. Spidy, Superintendent of Railway Workshops, was expressed by the Wellington Technical College Board of Governors last evening. It was stated that he had been a valued member of the mechanical engineering advisory committee.

Mr. C. F. Williams, of Wellington, has been appointed to succeed Mr. R. C. Barnett as district manager of the Government Life Insurance Department at Invercargill. Mr/Barnett has been transferred on promotion to Hamilton.

Captain J. L. Turnbull, who has been appointed assistant staff officer at Dominion headquarters of the Home Guard, Wellington, has been closely connected with the development of the Home Guard in Hawke's Bay, and was No. 7 area adjutant for some months. Father P. McCrory and Father M. J. McNally have arrived at Auckland from England to join the staff of St. Peter's Rural Training School conducted at Northcote by the Mill Hill Fathers.

Lieut. W. G. Beckett, R.N.V.R. (Wellington), is serving in high-speed craft and has taken part in raids on the enemy coast, reports "The Post's" London correspondent. Lieut. Beckett was for a time in destroyers. Recently he gave a series of radio talks on the 8.8.C. Empire service on naval matters and experiences.
