KING OF GREECE
HIS HOUSE IN CRETE MADE
NAZI OBJECTIVE
LONDON, May 25
It is announced by Reuters correspondent in Cairo that the Greek King and his Government left Crete for Egypt last night in order not to handicap military operations.
One of the main objectives of the first Nazi parachute troops was the house of the King and his Prime Minister. This is revealed in a proclamation addressed to the Greek nation by the King. It says that the parachutists landed within a few hundred yards of his house and that fighting began between the invaders ant! Allied troops. As the main force of the enemy managed to separate the King's men from their troops, it became imperative for the King to withdraw and frustrate the invaders' plans.
