A CORRECTION

CARPENTERS' UNION

In a report published yesterday drawing attention to a meeting of the Carpenters' and Joiners' Union to be held this evening, it was stated that an anti-war resolution was carried by a small number of members of the union at Rongotai. This, unfortunately, was incorrect. In actual fact, carpenters employed at Rongotai protested against the action of delegates from their union in moving an amendment at the Federation of Labour Conference stating that "the interest of the working class demands the withdrawal of New Zealand from the war." The Rongotai carpenters said that the delegates had no authority to move the amendment. The Rongotai carpenters v/ere the first section of the union to take exception to the motion proposed at the Federation of Labour conference.
