MR. NFKELL'S MINISTRY

SYDNEY, May 16,

The new Labour Ministry for New South Wales was announced tonight as follows:— ■

Mr. W. J. McKell, Premier and Treasurer.

Mr. J. M. Baddeley, Deputy Premier, Chief Secretary, and Minister of Mines.

Mr. R. J. Heffron, Minister of National Emergency Services. Mr. C. E. Martin, Attorney-General. Mr. W. Dunn, Minister of Agriculture and Forests.

Mr. C. Evatt, N K.C., Minister of Education.

Mr. H. Knight, Minister of Labour, Industry, and Social Services.

Mr. R. Downing, M.L.C., Minister of Justice and Vice-president of the Executive Council. .

Mr. J. Cahill, Minister of Public Works. \

Mr. C. Kelly, Minister of Health. Mr. James McGirr, Minister of Local Government and Housing. Mr. J. Tully, Minister of Lands. Mr. M. O'Sullivan, Minister of Transport.

Assistant Ministers, Messrs. C. Lazzarini and W. Dickson, M.L.C.

Speaker, Mr. D. Clyne,

A distribution of preference votes has assured the official Labour Party of 55 seats in a House of 90 members.

In addition to the three Ministers already defeated a fourth, the Chief Secretary, Mr. Tonking, was today beaten by the official Labour candidate, and there are still seven seats undecided.— U.P.A.
