"The swing of American opinion in the last eight months in the direction of aiding Britain -has been miraculous," said Dr. Lynn Harold Hough, Dean of the Drew Theological Seminary, New Jersey, who is a through passenger to Sydney by the Monterey. "The great majority of people are not only keen about Britain winning the war but are determined to render, every assistance." he said It was difficult to say how strong the isolationists actually were. "My opinion is that this group is much more vocal than actually strong," he said. Mr. Hoover.was the man who had to be watched, because he had once been President. However,.be did not think Mr. Hoover's influence would be of much significance.
