NORTH-WESTERLY WINDS

Special forecast for Wellington:—

Gradually freshening northwesterly winds.

Weather fair to cloudy with moderate temperatures. Little change is indicated in the immediate future.

The genera] forecast for the Dominion as a whole is for moderate southwesterlies over the northern half of the North Island. Moderate to fresh north-wester!ics will blow elsewhere and are likely to be strong later in parts of Cook and Foveaux Straits. In and west of the main ranges the weather will be cloudy with isolated falls of morning drizzle, while elsewhere it will be fair to fine. Temperatures will be moderate, with some frosts tonight.

Yesterday's weather was fair to fine with north-westerly winds, except in the north, where southerlies prevailed. There were widespread frosts last night in the South Island, and there was a considerable area of fog this morning in central districts of the North Island. Wellington had a fine day with a moderate north-westerly wind. The sun shone brightly for 9.1 hours and the maximum temperature rose to 62.1 degrees. Following the minimum temperature last night of 47.2 degrees there was a heavy dew.

Rainfall to date this month totals 3.14 inches.
